EA Sports unveil Next-Gen FIFA at Xbox One presentation

As reported yesterday, EA Sports were to reveal the Next Generation of FIFA at the new Xbox "One" presentation today - and so they did. Here's what we were lucky enough to see from the presentation. Apart from a brand new Xbox console called "One" with amazing specifications setting us up for a great future of gaming, we got to see something that many of us specifically have been waiting for. A preview of the Next Generation of FIFA gaming! Wow oh wow are we impressed. Despite not having seen too much of the Next-Gen FIFA, we got ourselves a good view of what there is to expect in the future. Fascinating graphics, amazing new features and a lot more. Next-Gen games by EA Sports will be powered by the new EA Sports "Ignite" engine, bringing the games alive with Human Intelligence, True Player Motion and Living Worlds.

The EA SPORTS IGNITE game engine delivers a new level of innovation, further blurring the line between the real-world and the virtual. Developed by EA SPORTS™, games powered by the new engine will be alive: players think, move and behave like real athletes, with environments as dynamic and ever-changing as real-world stadiums. It was confirmed on EA Sports' official Facebook page today that they will be present at tomorrow's Xbox-presentation to show what FIFA will be like on the next generation of consoles. Tomorrow (May 21) at 6pm UK time, Xbox will be livestreaming their new-gen console presentation, which many have waited for. Not only do will we see new revolutionary consoles, we will also see a bit of what FIFA will look like on these consoles. EA to discontinue the Online Pass

Yup, you actually read that one right. EA are discontinuing the Online Pass for new game titles as a decision based on player response. As the feedback EA have received from players regarding the Online Pass system was negative, a decision has been made to completely discontinue the Online Pass for new game titles. EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg confirmed this in an e-mail to GamesBeat by saying; “Yes, we’re discontinuing Online Pass, none of our new EA titles will include that feature." The Online Pass was first introduced as an attempt to reduce second hand game sales and prevent players from accessing online features with a pirated copy of the game. FIFA 13 Ultimate Team May Tournament

We're finally good to go! The tournament tree is all set up and you can finally start playing your games versus your opponents. Find out more information here. An astonishing 32 people have signed up for this month's FUT tournament where you have a chance of winning a share of 200,000 Xbox 360 coins (150k to winner, 50k to runner-up).

Tournament Rules:

The tournament will be held in a knock-out style format.
Each knock-out round will consist of two matches, home and away.
If the match is a draw over the two legs, the team with higher away goals will progress. Otherwise, play a 3rd match, and the winner of this progresses.
No attribute cards are allowed.
No passing it at the back/holding it in the corner etc to waste time.
No custom formations.

Deadlines:

Round of 32: Wednesday, May 15th.
Round of 16: Sunday, May 19th.
Quarter-finals: Friday, May 24th.
Semi-finals: Sunday, May 28th.
Final: Friday, May 31st.

FIFA 13 Ultimate Team TOTS starts May 8th

One of the most interesting FIFA Ultimate Team occasions is closing in. On May 8th, the longly awaited Team of The Season squads will start being released! Oh the amount of tweets and questions in general we've gotten about the Team of The Season - we're finally glad EA revealed the start date of it for all of us. Starting on May 8th, EA Sports will release 8 - yes, eight - TOTS squads on FIFA Ultimate Team. Those special in-form cards you've all been waiting for will finally be available in packs as they start getting released. Please keep in mind that not all 8 squads are released at once, they are released with a few days (probably a week) margin.
